EMF – The Invisible Danger

EMF – The Invisible DangerDo you supervise your baby electronically with baby phone?

Do you frequently use a mobile telephone and wireless local area network?

Do you have many electrical appliances in your household?

Do you have frequently headache, allergies, sleeplessness?

Are you depressed or often exhausted?

Then pay attention to your environment and to possible sources of EMFs.

Our environment is filled with invisible natural and non-natural electric and magnetic fields. The man-made electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) have been until recently largely ignored. A growing volume of research has heightened public awareness of the problem that EMFs may be negatively impacting the health and well-being of millions of people. EMFs have in common that they are all created by electrical devises in our houses, such as hair dryers, digital alarm clocks, toasters, coffee makers, TVs, or computers.

The more you use these devices and the closer you are to them, the higher is your exposure to EMFs. EMFs behave differently however, in respect to other characteristics. As soon as your electrical device is plugged in, it is surrounded by an electrical field, even when switched off. In contrast, magnetic fields are only created when your device is switched on. In other words, magnetic fields are only present when electric current flows and the bigger the current the stronger the magnetic field.

Furthermore electric and magnetic fields behave differently in relation to building materials. Fortunately most of the building materials shield electric fields to some extent however, magnetic fields are not attenuated by currently used materials. That means that your house is not shielding you against the magnetic fields of for instances, a high voltage transmission line. The only solution to escape these big magnetic fields, which can extent hundreds of meters, is to maintain a reasonable distance.

Man-made EMFs emanate from whatever conducts or uses electricity, such as appliances, wiring, distribution lines under homes and along streets and highways, railroad cars on electrified lines, and high-tension power lines. Our proximity to electricity exposes us to electrical fields twenty four hours per day. Only if you live far from a city with no electricity at all, like a hermit, you would be unaffected.

How dangerous is electromagnetic pollution for us?

How to Eliminate Stress in Minutes!

Eliminating fear, stress, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, trauma, guilt, any anger, loss weight, stop smoking in minutes. It is a powerful therapy with a impressive success rate.

It has also proven effective in the treatment of some physical conditions such as headaches and back pain. Discovered and developed by Dr. Roger Callahan, a Californian clinical psychologist with over 40 years of experience, TFT is a unique form of meridian therapy.  It is best described as a natural, drug-free, non-invasive system to eliminate the cause of negative emotions. Callahan (1997) states that he accidentally discovered TFT while treating a client named Mary, who had a severe fear of water. Inspired by an acupuncture class he was taking at the time, Callahan instructed Mary to firmly tap the area under her eye with her fingers, leading to a miraculous and immediate resolution of Mary’s phobia. Callahan subsequently developed the comprehensive set of techniques that combines elements of acupuncture, Chinese medicine, applied Kinesiology, Cognitive Therapy and psychoanalysis.

The therapy is based on the idea that invisible energy fields called “thought fields” exist within the body (Callahan 1997). Environmental traumas and inherited predispositions are theorized to cause blockages, or what Callahan terms “perturbations,” in the flow of energy in these thought fields. Callahan theorizes that the commonly observed neurochemical, behavioral, and cognitive indicators of disorders such as depression are the result of these perturbations. In other words, the root cause of all psychological problems are blockages in energy fields.

In order to correct these perturbations, clients are directed by the TFT therapist to tap on the body’s “energy meridians” in specific sequences, called “algorithms,” which vary based on the particular problem being treated (Callahan 1997). For example, the client may be instructed to tap at the corner of the eyebrow five times and then continue tapping on other parts of the body in a specific sequence as instructed by the therapist. In addition, the clients are told to roll their eyes, count, and hum a few bars of a song at various points during the treatment. Callahan states that when the thought field is “attuned,” that is, when the person is thinking about the distressing event or image, perturbations are able to be located and corrected. The tapping is theorized to add energy to the system, which then re-balances the overall energy flow, thereby eliminating the distress at the source.

Secrets to Beat Depression Eating!

Secrets to Beat Depression Eating!Scientists found that food can affect our mental health and determine our happiness. You can get rid of depression by eating better and yummy!

“Over 800,000 Australian adults have a depressive disorder […] and those Australians are part of over 2 million Australians (10% of the population!) and that roughly an equal number of men and women that have the common mental disorders of anxiety and depression or associated alcohol or substance abuse – big numbers”.

What you have just read is part of the talk that Dr. Ian Hickie, Professor of Psychiatry and Executive Director of the Brain and Mind Research Institute at the University of Sydney, gave at the Australian National University the 16th October 2003. Numbers have not changed since. Dr. Hickie defines these mental disorders as “disability disorders”. Adding to the feeling of hopelessness, lack of self-esteem, goals or direction in life, enjoyment, fulfillment, happiness, etc, is that mental disorders are, besides, socially stigmatized, and thus hidden. Did you know that when going to the States one of the questions in Customs questionnaire is “Are you a criminal or have a record of mental disorders?”. No comments on that.

The standard therapies for mental disorders are drugs that inhibit neurotransmitters break down or strengthen their effects. As an example, NIMH USA recommends for depression and bipolar disorders: “[..] a variety of antidepressant medications and psychotherapies that can be used to treat depressive disorders” (NIMH webpage, May 2006). No mention is done to nutrition and physical activity.

Lately, and finally, scientists are busy demonstrating the effects of different foods on moods and mental health. Alternative medicine has since long worked with the premise that our body is a whole system, therefore mental health is just a reflection of our general physical and spiritual health, and all three parts of the being are intricately interconnected. Conditions like depression, anxiety, ADD and ADHD, PMS, schizophrenia, addictions, and neurological degenerative diseases have been related in alternative therapies classically to nutritional deficiencies, lately also to allergies and environmental and food toxicity.

So, what are scientists findings?

Create An Environmentally Conscious Home

Create An Environmentally Conscious HomeThe way we live in our homes determines how we use energy, how much waste we produce, how much water we consume, how many chemicals we use, how intense our pesticide input is and the degree of land consumption. Even if we do not see and understand all interconnections, we all contribute every day to the worldwide environmental degradation.

This article will show you that there a many possibilities to minimize your impact on the environment in your home without losing your quality of life. Everyone experiences quality of life in a particular way. But what connects all of us are the essential benefits of clear air and clean water, tranquility and nature. This are the most precious goods, that our wonderful earth is offering us daily for free, and they are at risk.

The relationship between human development and Nature’s adaptation ability and buffering capacity is out of balance. There is no doubt that serious issues need to be managed urgently on a global scale, but the importance of everyone’s participation should not be underestimated. Furthermore, only few people are aware of the potential health threats in products and materials found in our houses.

I had several patients with “inexplicable” symptoms like allergies, asthma, depression, headache and tiredness, most of them associated with a low immune system. In many cases the source of their conditions was in their houses due to the overuse of chemicals, pesticides, outgassing chemical additives from building materials, adhesives and binders. Another important health threat in a house is mold, due to increased insulation and tighter construction with decreased ventilation, as well as new building materials and new products.

Chemicals are another invisible enemy in our house and garden. The use of insecticides, herbicides and fungicides is very extensive in Australian households and participates actively to the ongoing health problems of thousands of residents and at the same time to the decreasing quality of our air, soil and water. Due to the different exposure and body constitution, the health effects may be different in each person, the symptoms may be hardly comparable.

Good Nutrition is Good for Your Mind

Good Nutrition is Good for Your MindOur mind is a very complex and delicate living computer, it needs really first quality ingredients, with the right quality and at the right moment to work at peak performance. Our brain needs glucose as its main fuel, and certain amino acids (simple molecules that make up proteins) like tryptophan to make the right neurotransmitters. If we don’t have enough glucose, we feel slow and we cannot process information, we cannot think. We cannot perform other activities as well, like many unconscious or automatic activities that keep us alive, like breathing, feeling thirst or hunger, being conscious of dangers and many others. Our brain keeps us alive.

If we don’t have enough amino acids, our brain cannot make enough neurotransmitters, which the tiny molecules that make cells to communicate between each other, and that make nervous impulses to travel through our nervous system. That means that we get depressed, slow, non-reactive, emotional, irrational and many other characteristics that define mental illnesses. The same happens when we don’t get in our diets enough vitamins, as our brains cannot make up the right molecules. An example is stress, which depletes our organism of vitamins, specially group B vitamins, which are needed to make neurotransmitters. And after a long stress period, we may feel always tired, sad and unable to think clearly (amongst other symptoms).

Good nutrition maintains your immune system ready to fight pathogens . Vitamin C is amongst the most known vitamins. One of its roles is to keep our immune system working properly. When the immune system is healthy, we don’t get ill and we don’t have pains. As simple as that. There are several other substances that we need to have in our diets to maintain our immune system. One of those is good fats like omega-3 and 6 fats. These are found in seeds, nuts and fish, mainly. These are basic to keep inflammatory processes under control or non-existent, and our hormones well balanced. When the fat balance is not adequate, hormonal systems get unbalanced as well, and chronic inflammatory processes start building up.

Health and Life Benefits of a Perfect Nutrition

Health and Life Benefits of a Perfect NutritionGood nutrition is the basis for health . This is not just a topical phrase, that we say to seem intelligent, it is just one of nature’s laws.

Your body is made up of cells, liquids and substances that are made of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, plus minerals and vitamins. The same way that a cake is made of those ingredients too: eggs are the proteins, butter the fats, and flour and sugar the carbohydrates. Minerals and vitamins are the spices and baking powder.

Do you know what happens when you use bad quality ingredients to make a cake? Well, that it doesn’t come out nice and it doesn’t taste nice, it is not healthy. Imagine we make the right mixture, but we don’t put spices and baking powder. What do we get? Not a cake, maybe a tasteless hard cookie.

Well, the same happens to our bodies. If we put bad proteins, bad fats and bad carbohydrates into us, what we get is a bad quality body. If you eat good quality food, with enough vitamins and minerals, then you get good quality muscles and bones, skin and teeth, hormones and neurotransmitters.

But not only the quality is important, the relative proportions too are essential. Imagine that one day we decide to make a cake with one egg instead of two, and we put double the sugar and double the flour, and no fat. What will we get? Well, not a really good cake, if we get a cake at all. We may get something similar to a dry giant cookie.

Well, many diets nowadays that we eat are like this. We eat too much sugar, or too much flour, and refined besides, so that we make sure that there are no vitamins and minerals left there. Or we eat proteins and fat in a nice barbecue, with some refined flour too. In this cases we are eating too much of one or two ingredients, and too little of the others.

What is a good diet then? The perfect nutrition provides our bodies with excellent quality and enough quantities of proteins, fats (yes, fats too!) and carbohydrates, plus vitamins, minerals and enzymes, so that we can rebuild and maintain our bodies in a perfect health state.
