Go Green for Your Health

Go green is not just about saving the planet – though that’s certainly reason enough. It’s also about protecting and improving your health and the health of your family.

Now that sounds like a big claim, but it’s true. Toxic overload is the single greatest factor in most health problems including allergies, autoimmune and systemic diseases, and symptoms that doctors just can’t explain…even psychological problems!

Anyone Can Be Affected By Toxins

You don’t have to live near a toxic waste site or near factories to be seriously affected by toxins. They are everywhere: in our cities and towns, on our farms, and pollutants have even been found in the waters of Antarctica.

Modern life exposes us to an unprecedented number of industrial chemicals and toxic substances. It has been estimated that around 36 billion kilograms of toxins are releases across the world each year, 18 million of them released in just the last decade.

The modern household can also be full of toxins and toxic fumes from varnishes, carpeting, compressed board cupboards, vinyl flooring, plastics, cleaners…even your tap water. If you read the labels on your packaged foods, you will find that almost all of them also contain toxins, often disguised as ‘colouring’ or ‘flavouring’ agents, and even your fresh food may have been sprayed, radiated, and chemically treated before it reached you. In fact, the quality of air in your home can be even more toxic than the air outside your home, as toxic fumes accumulate and become even more virulent in enclosed spaces.

Medicine For the Body Electric

“Treating humans without the concept of energy is treating dead matter.”  - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, M.D., Nobel Prize Laureate, Hungary

Medicine For the Body ElectricEveryone’s talking about energy! Not just the energy that we use to fuel our cars, wash clothes, or turn on the lights, but the energy that makes up all of matter, including you and me. In the most literal way, we are beings of energy – beings of light. A ll of the ‘stuff’ of the universe is energy, and this energy moves or vibrates at different frequencies. Our energetic frequency is as unique as our fingerprint. Also, every part of our bodies has a specific energetic vibration. When this vibration is altered or disrupted, that part of the body cannot function properly. That’s where energy medicine comes in.

In the 1940′s Russian Nobel laureate Albert Szent-Gyorgyi pioneered what he called “electronic biology”. He suggested that the proteins that make up our body are actually conductors. Subsequent research around the world eventually bore that out, proving that our proteins, even the smallest parts of our cells, are semiconductors. Research by Gerhard Bausle and Richard McFee of Syracuse University, N.Y. in 1963; by David Cohen of MIT in 1970, and later researchers also showed that different parts of the body produce different magnetic fields.

Our bodies are, in fact, an electronic network that can detect and conduct energy, and interpret and store the information held in that energy. We now know that our cells generate and use electrical energy to communicate with each other, and that they emit electrical fields that can be detected on the skin. Each organ and tissue in our bodies produces a unique biomagnetic field, and this field is affected by illness or disease.

Creating harmony with ancient and modern knowledge

Feng Shui, or in English geomancy, is an ancient art of reading the forces of nature in order to design buildings and burial sites. It aims to help us live in harmony with the world by promoting the flow of positive energy and neutralizing or avoiding negative or destructive energy.

This art was practiced all over the world, all famous ancient churches or sacred places were built with a deep knowledge of geomancy. Unfortunately the art of reading the energy and the knowledge of correct application got lost in the western world.

We all have a feeling for “Positive” and “Negative” energies. Everyone can experience the subtle feelings in different houses. The uneasy feeling being in a place surrounded with clutter, or the feeling of anxiety visiting burial sites. On the other hand, the pleasant and positive feeling visiting a park with harmonic energies.

We enjoy meetings in some buildings because we feel relaxed and positive. We try to avoid meetings in some offices because we feel stressed and even negative.

When a building is affected with geopathic stress, or the in harmonic shape of the rooms attract unhealthy chi (Sha Chi) then the inhabitants are affected and feel tired, irritable, forgetful and lose concentration. Worst of all, the occupants may become ill and could miss good opportunities due to the lack of sleep or illness.

The 15 Principles of Building Biology and Ecology

  1. Developments shall be done according to sustainable land-use pattern that consumes a minimum amounts of land and resources.
  2. Buildings shall incorporate efficient and sustainable energy use, water use, solid waste and waste water reuse, recycling or environmentally safe disposal.
  3. All materials used shall be non toxic, non radioactive, recyclable and if possible from environmentally correct and certified sources. Building activities shall not contribute to the exploitation of non-renewable and rare resources.
  4. The production, transport, installation and disposal of building materials shall not contribute to environmental pollution and high energy costs.
  5. During Construction the waste shall be separated and if possible recycled.
  6. The total moisture content of a new building shall be low and dry out quickly. Indoor air humidity shall be regulated naturally, a building shall have a pleasant or neutral smell.
  7. Buildings shall provide an indoor environment that does not promote, accumulate or circulate harmful particles, radioactivity, bacteria, viruses and fungi.
  8. The buildings shall maximize natural heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting, and be acoustically insulated. The natural balance of atmospheric electricity and ion concentration shall be maintained naturally.
  9. Man-made electromagnetic radiation shall be as low as possible.
  10. The distance to powerlines and phone towers shall be as far as possible.
  11. Cosmic and terrestrial radiation is essential and shall be interfered as little as possible. A building site shall be free from harmful earth radiation.
  12. Interior, furniture design and colour shall be balanced and harmonic with nature and the occupants.
  13. Design of buildings shall incorporate principles of ergonomics, harmony, proportion and reflect the character of the local area. Harmonic measures, proportions and shapes need to be taken into consideration.
  14. Housing and developments shall be personalized, in harmony with nature, fit for human habitation and family oriented. They shall foster healthy family and community relationships.
  15. Gardens and surrounding environment shall consider environmentally sound principles for its design, construction and maintenance, including maximising resources use efficiency, avoiding toxics and using the available spaces to provide for the needs of people and wildlife.

Building Biology and Ecology – creating healthy environments

Building Biology is the study of the impact of the place where we life and work on our physical, emotional, spiritual and mental level. Building Biology was pioneered in Germany more than 35 years ago. The original German name is “Bau-Biologie”. IIEHS defines Building Biology as:
“Building Biology is a holistic assessment and healing tool for man-made buildings and structures. The assessment is a survey of all emissions and other harmful influences on humans, animals and environment. The goal of Building Biology is to heal our home or workplace environment through eliminating and neutralizing the potential causes of illness, like toxins, man-made and natural radiation in air, construction material, furniture and garden”.

Building Ecology is the study of the interaction of the building with the Environment, or the application of the principles of sustainability on buildings and urban development. Buildings account for one-sixth of the world’s fresh water withdrawals, one-quarter of its wood harvest, and two-fifths of its material and energy flows (Roodman and Lenssen, 1995) . Building Ecology encourages us to use our resources efficiently, build in harmony with nature, choosing the right location, using environmentally correct and certified materials, incorporating efficient and sustainable energy use, water use, waste and waste water disposal. Building Biology and Ecology expresses in a holistic way our relationship with Nature and the Planet where we live:
